Documenting the world water crisis with Love Water
844 million people around the world do not have access to safe and clean water. That’s approximately 10% of the people on earth who lack consistent access to clean water for drinking, bathing, cooking and so many more basic needs.
Lovewater.org is a non-profit organization working to bring clean water to people in developing communities. Their mission gives people an opportunity to restore their health and break the cycle of poverty. Instead of spending hours every day trying to find and collect water, people with access to clean water have more time to spend on education, economic growth, healthcare, and each other.Last year I traveled to Africa to document the work of Love Water. We visited communities in Uganda and Zambia where they had built wells or installed bio-sand filters. It was incredible to see the impact that access to clean water had on their lives. We also visited the swamps, hand dug wells, and ditches where these communities had gotten their water before Love Water. Witnessing how clean water can change a person’s life was an unforgettable experience and one that I feel incredibly humbled by and grateful to share.
